I have noticed quite a number of responses to Noob questions in here lately that have been either extremely sarcastic or plain out berating the question and calling someone stupid for asking.

Answering in these ways or giving plain dangerous opsec advice is a fast track to being banned from the sub - there are plenty of other subs to be a cranky or sarcastic asshole - trust me i know them well, just ask me :)

THERE ARE NO STUPID QUESTIONS HERE!!!

This sub above all others is a place for new users to be able to come and learn.

Please remember that the DNM's and all the information available here can be quite overwhelming and for some it can be even hard to pluck up the courage to ask a question.

We really want to encourage people to ask these questions - not make them even more scared to ask something they don't know.

For those of you that are civil and lend out a helping hand to the new users here, we salute you - You are the real hero's!

tl;dr - for those answering questions: be civil, be helpful and try to remember what it was like when you were new to something and needed help.

stay safe - dl

I'm guilty of cracking a few jokes at peoples expense but try to be helpful amidst it. I do think most of the time just responding with a link to the DNM Bible and telling them to read it again and again would solve the problem. But thanks for helping keep people safe (:

i mostly agree on the DNM bible thing... but we generally only do it when the question is that far off the mark that they haven't taken those first steps.

we do say this pretty plainly in the side bar:

Make sure you read the DNM Bible before you do anything else!

Before posting make sure you also give the rules a read!

When you site the word 'opsec' I have to respect that issue.

But then there is /d/Opsec.

I take this sub as a general area for noobs. Just learning how to even get here and their.

This learning curve can be alot for beginners and I have sympathy for them.

But this can also be a harmful knowledge. When I think I have found a teenager trying to order Adderall to their parnets house; someone learning how to make anonymous email to circulate a threat; or the asshole wondering how to ruin his ex-lovers life having all their vital data--I might tend to be a sarcastic fuck!

Oh yea, if I think Your The Police, I might really send you on soon wild goose chase!

if something isn't appropriate there are 4 mods and the dread staff who all take a lot of care for this sub and will remove the content/ban.

in saying that, not enough reports for shady posts/comments come through anymore. it does actually make it a little easier for us to spot in the mod panel than having to scan through a host of posts/comments(we're not AI unfortuntealy)

the old 'how do i set up a dark net market' is a good one.

technically the sub name could read as a place for future market admin wannabes... lol

lol

I did not know there was a way (easier way) to spot the obvious honey-pot-post from behind the scenes, so to speak. But outstanding!
