I praised the fast growth to 4,200 the other day and now we are reduced to 2,379 :( I am sad

edit:I'm talking about inactive accounts too, still sucks just the same ;(

Inactive accounts were deleted I believe, not just "fake" accounts. A lot of subs had a dramatic decrease in subscribers because a lot of those subs had a bunch of subscribers from inactive/throwaway/no posters.

The reason I suspect this is because usernames like /u/Monopoly are now free, when I last checked that account it had no posts it was a dormant account. What's confusing is users like /u/poop are still active which seem to be dormant also. Usually when an account is deleted the username becomes available to register instantly, I tried to register the username /u/Monopoly but it cock blocked me.

I have to admit when I first started using dread I couldn't make up my mind on which user name to pick.

So theres got to be at least 4 usernames that I choose and made accounts with and never used or cant remember the names. I think one was Orphanblack? and cant remember the other ones.

The proper name would have been Blackorphan

Weird that this sub would be inflated by bots.

/u/aClockworkTangerine .deb OP · 1 votes · 3 weeks ago · Link

Yeah you'd think it would just be subs for a specific service not something related to something non business related. It's saddening

Weird ain't it. Bot killing is a good thing though. Maybe we'll get better front end detection instead of getting rid of them after the fact.

/d/CafeDread too. The user with the bot must have accounts sub to non-market subs in an attempt to "look more human."

Damn... Reallyyy :( ???

I didn't expect this sub to be inflated by bots. I think most of these accounts were just inactive accounts, not just fake ones as mr. Monopoly said.

Yeah when I said fake I was talking about the inactive guys as well I should've typed it better. It's got me somewhat angry tbh this was one of the bigger subs I mod -.-

I knew something strange was going on with the growth in numbers in the forums I visit. Rather it be real than artificial.
