I get important medicine from the markets.

I've had to go a week without them

Even before the strikes they were rubbish.

Several of the vendors I use already used Royal mail signed meaning they were giving some sort of information

to Royal mail, if fake.

I assume any vendors using an alternative to Royal mail would immediately have a big competitive edge.

I would use them straight away.

The amount of time I've wasted waiting for Royal mail!!!

For example some services have a one hours delivery window.

Royal mail where I am can deliver between fecking 830am and 2pm, 5.5 hours!!

Personally I cannot stand Royal mail for the above reasons.

Their service is not fit for purpose.

Totally agree with your frustrations but unfortunately for vendors the logistics usually make using alternative couriers impossible/dangerous and I'll explain why.

Using Royal Mail you have a multitude of roadside post boxes where vendors can anonymously drop or parcels and letters, they can also purchase prepaid satchels, stamps, etc.

When using a courier service like DHL, FedEx, etc it's not quite that's simple. Usually you'll need to get it picked up from your home/business or drop it off at a pack station with heaps of CCTV. This is a huge OPSEC risk for vendors especially with a direct link back to origin via tracking numbers.

It's not ideal but it's reality Royal Mail just needs to sort their shit out.
