hello dread community, i've got something to ask.
Basically I am tired of being inside the darknet and i want to get out of here but i want to do it safely, the problem is that I have only 1 computer and I do not want to buy a new one.
before i was on the darknet i used windows then once i approached this world i deleted windows and I installed Ubuntu and I applied the full disk encryption with a strong password to prevent police from accessing it if I was caught but now since I want to leave this place I want to delete ubuntu and this full disk encryption which slows down a lot my pc to install once again windows.
Now as I said before I don't want and I can't smash this computer so I have an idea: since all the info of what I have done are inside my hard disk on this pc, to delete all the proofs can't I just smash the HDD of my current computer to then replace it with a new HDD or with an SSD? in this way I still have my pc, i just need to replace the hard drive which is way more cheaper than to replace the whole pc.
Some other info that may help you guide me if this is a good idea or not:
I never used my phone for darkweb activities, I never bought drugs on the dark web, i only did some low level hacking activities.

Dude, just re-install windows if that's really what you want to do.
Done.
Your harddrive was encrypted. You don't have to do much else.
> i only did some low level hacking activities.
Nobody is after you.

thanks sir for the suggestion but before I installed linux and I encrypted my drive I did some nasty thing with windows too, then I got rid of windows and I installed ubuntu and I applied full disk encryption.
it is true that I did low level hacking activities but I had contacts with an hacker which got some weeks ago caught, i know this because the guy hit the news on different journals and I do think to have leaved some traces that may lead police to caught me.
Instead of using a software to wipe the data which it will take a lot of time since my computer is really old and it uses a normal HDD wouldn't it be better if I just buy a new one?

You can download and Disk Wipe/ERASER software and make it write the entire HDD and re-install a new system on to it just like pygmalion suggested. You are safe.

use veracrypt, encrypt every thing in your ubuntu os with vera, and then shred all that data with a data erasing tool in linux(shred -h, or use the 'wipe' tool to do it), WHILE THE VERACRYPT FILE OR DRIVE IS ENCRYPTED
You can also use use 'wipe -rf -p 50 /dir/or/file' for it, WHILE ITS ENCRYPTED WITH VERA
shut down the linux os, install vera on your windows securely move the encrypted ubuntu files/folder to a encrypted veracrypt container on your windows
and then shred it using a subsystem of linux, like debian or ubuntu from the microsoft store app, and download the wipe tool on that subsystem for linux, and do the same thing to that encrypted veracrypt file on your windows like you did with you data in the ubuntu os.
open the sub linux app you installed
sudo apt-get install wipe
cd to your desktop 'cd /mnt/c/Users/username/Desktop'
'wipe -rf -p 50 veracryptfilewithUbuntuinit'
done
and never return to the dark web
note: could take a long time to do, but in the name of covering traces, its overkill I know, but rather safer then sorry
even tho no one is really after you(at least I dont think)

in the future, run all your virtual machine in a encrypted container/drive, it would be more easy and less time consuming

Just install windows as normally.
If you are really worried use https://dban.org/ before windows installation.

If you are engaging in any activity that poses risk to you, don't use windows. It is just a remote portal for mass intelligence collection.
If you have a HDD with any incriminating information, get rid of it. Overwrite it with random bits. Your best bet to do this is Zulucrypt. You can install Zulucrypt in Tails easily and overwrite your entire dirty HDD with random bits (not with zeroes!).
Beware of your HDD. If it is classical HDD you are good to go. If it is an SSD, there are chances that it cannot be truly erased and also that it can still keep some data intact ( including your passwords).
Check you adversary list in you OpSec if there are agencies with high cyberintelligence capabilities. If there are some adversaries of this rank, and the data on your SSD (if it is an SSD) pose high risk to you, destroy the SSD. This is a very simplified version.
p.s. use some more reasonable tools built for high risk operations
