Apart from very upfront info about a vendor getting busted, how does this help the average buyer?

99% of people who use this sub are personal use buyers. How does paying attention to newspaper articles about previous busts help us save "good vendors"? That is their problem, and the articles you list all show that they made CRUCIAL mistakes.

Do you honestly think that a buyer using the same address as one that might have been exposed through the arrest of a previous vendor is going to lead to the arrest of a current vendor? It would take huge resources to monitor thousands of addresses and have a system which flags this and that and so on. I have never heard of any evidence of this being a thing either domestically or with ABF.

All of this shit just plays us right into the hands of LE, their biggest weapon is FEAR. Fear is effective and very inexpensive. Half of these forums are filled with paranoid tweakers doing LE's job for them. The funniest thing is that it never changes anything. Time marches on and people keep buying and selling contraband.

Apart from very upfront info about a vendor getting busted, how does this help the average buyer?

This keeps us buyers informed and know when to burn our details before we move onto another vendor.

99% of people...That is their problem, and the articles you list all show that they made CRUCIAL mistakes.

What crucial mistakes you think the recent vendors made? I got jack all from the articles part from imports from the first two busts and don't tell me it's because of their bling. Fuck man, they might aswell start camping infront of luxery stores then if their main tail was luxery goods.

Do you honestly think that a buyer using the same address as one that might have been exposed through the arrest of a previous vendor is going to lead to the arrest of a current vendor? ..

Before hdndrgn went bust, SWIM and few buyers i know personally had orders seized from a supposed "Blitz" then they reshipped succesfully. A week after an article related to them being bust was out there but we didn't know who. We continued ordering and hdndrgn just kept accepting but no comms or shippments made. Someone informed me that they got FE privileges on the market so all orders made are auto FE and locked on their account but they went inactive the day the bust happened so now we locked away in stupid disputes with no resolution until market exit.

BTW this shit went on for fkn 2 weeks until people got the hint and started warning on feedback page.

Yes, buyers have been doing exactly that, why you think the domino effect is getting quicker (From yearly to monthly). A good reputable vendor informed me before they vanished from the market after exactly the same shit happened too. They told me some of the buyers were compromised leading to continued investigations. How they know? (fuck knows it's their opsec) But they told me their new buyers were openly admitting to reusing address when they suspect their orders was seized after Hdndrgn incident. And believe me this vendor has pretty fkn good stealth but nothing can stop them from being profiled.

You're telling me by the timeline of busts they not getting efficient? The FEAR is obviously working if orders are getting seized more and more often then leading to busts for the final FUD.

This thread doesnt play into their hands, it makes it fkn harder for them to work when buyers and vendors know whats up. Who cares how many "paranoid tweakers" fucking up the party for the rest of us, sooner or later they'll get their fix as the rest of us try to educate and evolve.

His egotistical nature ended up getting the better of him. Hell, that wasn't even really his nature. He was a shy, reserved nerd for the most-part but daily heroin & cocaine use works wonders to a man's personality.

He's also back in business operating his kebab shops (I'm referring to Sam Karagiozis) - he was a fucking bitch of a man, there's no way he would have been able to spend any significant amount of time in jail and would have co-operated at the first opportunity.

Text Body:

Gold Coast husband and wife jailed for 'high-level' drug trafficking via online black market

A Gold Coast couple who funded a "lavish lifestyle" peddling MDMA and cannabis on the dark web has been jailed after pleading guilty to drug trafficking.

In 2017, the couple was listed among Australia's most-wanted criminals.

Jonathon Grey, who was the "principal" offender, was sentenced to nine years in prison for what Supreme Court Justice James Douglas called one of the "worst examples of high-level trafficking" he had come across.

Grey's wife, Kathleen Ann, was handed a six-year prison term for her subsidiary role.

The Brisbane court heard the couple trafficked drugs for a year to September 2016 and that it was a sophisticated commercial business, with Mr Grey's business profile on the online black market revealing more than 600 completed orders that exceeded $400,000.

Software was also used to "jumble" cryptocurrency transactions and encrypt conversations.

The total turnover was not known but Justice Douglas concluded it would have been "very significant".

The court heard the couple's family home was used as an "office" for the business, while a second property operated as a "grow house".

When police raided that property, they uncovered cannabis plants estimated to be worth more than $200,000 and about $20,000 worth of equipment.

The court heard Jonathon Grey also sourced drugs from the Netherlands through the post.

Officers also seized computers, a mobile phone and exercise books that contained details of addresses and tracking numbers of mailbags.

Justice Douglas said those records reflected Grey's "previous business experience".

More than $300k forfeited

The court heard he ran the business but that his wife was fully aware of the operation and "derived a significant financial benefit" from it.

Justice Douglas said he accepted Kathleen Grey only assisted her husband when asked but never visited the grow house or ordered drugs from overseas.

The court heard the Greys had a Porsche and BMW.

More than $300,000 was forfeited after the Crime and Corruption Commission launched criminal confiscation proceedings against the pair.

Kathleen Grey's barrister Lars Falcongreen said following that legal action, his client's anxiety levels "went through the roof" and she left for South Australia, joining her husband there.

The court heard the pair had two daughters and that being separated from them and each other in prison had been difficult.

"Unusual circumstances that both the mother and father are incarcerated," Mr Falcongreen said.

Jonathon Grey's defence counsel Colin Reid said his client, who previously had a significant cocaine addiction, was now contrite.

The couple pleaded guilty to several offences including drug trafficking and production.

Jonathon Grey will be eligible for parole after August 2021.

Due to time already served, Kathleen Grey will be eligible for parole in November.

Text Body:

A security expert who attempted to swindle money by selling guns on the dark web was shot down when his would-be buyers turned out to be undercover police.

Steele Patrick Melvin pleaded guilty to two counts of supplying weapons and one count of possessing restricted drugs when he faced Townsville District Court yesterday.

Melvin thought he’d come up with an easy way to make quick cash by advertising his firearms for sale and simply not sending the product.

The court heard Melvin, who owned and operated a small security business, was licensed to own the weapons.

Crown prosecutor Dane Marley said undercover police officers from Victoria made contact with Melvin on the dark web in June 2016 to negotiate a price for a Glock 6mm handgun.

“The defendant established a page on two dark web websites called AlphaBay and Dream Market … the platforms are similar to eBay but for the dark web,” Mr Marley said.

“The defendant offered to supply a Glock to the those police officers.

“There was a negotiation between him and the police officers to establish that he actually had those items in his possession. The defendant later went to the Australia Post store at Aitkenvale and posted two (ammunition) magazines to the police.”

The court heard several days later Melvin was contacted by more undercover officers, this time from the Australian Federal Police who paid him $2400 worth of Bitcoin for the weapon but he never sent it to them. Melvin even went back to the undercover police asking for a further $130 because the price of Bitcoin had dropped.

Police raided his Townsville home about a month later, finding the weapons and 17 capsules of dimethylamylamine, a restricted drug. Mr Marley said Melvin participated in a lengthy interview with police in which he said he never intended to actually deliver the guns and claimed the drugs were for his security dog to keep it “on scent”.

Defence barrister Scott Geeves said his client had lost his ability to own firearms and operate a security business since the charges were laid more than three years ago. He said Melvin had been involved in the security industry since he was 19-years-old, holding many positions including working in a security and youth work capacity for the Department of Justice from 2011 to 2014.

Judge Greg Lynham said the offending could be seen to be akin to fraud, but the fact Melvin was dealing on the dark web and actually posted the ammunition magazines was particularly concerning. The judge took into account Melvin’s co-operation with police and good behaviour while on a lengthy bail when considering the sentence.

Melvin was sentenced to two and a half years on probation. He must comply with requirements of corrective service officers and not commit any further offences in that time to avoid further punishment.

NSWGreat has my vote for the best bust.

Everything he did was questionable, from posting pictures of his own hands holding drugs to bragging/annoying LE to catch him.

All credit to the unassuming man in real life though. He knew what he was doing, he recovered from a massive reputation hit, and had some big balls to do what he was doing.

Just didn't know when to quit. Don't think it would've mattered in the end though.

There's so much negativity when AU used to represent some of the best quality vendors, even though everything was overpriced. What's happened? Are all the "good" vendors in jail now?

How dunb are people keeping crypto where the cops can get at it! If they were tracked through the blockchain they were not doing good OPSEC! Exchanging 3 mill in crypto is far too much to do at once and should have been done from a country with no extradition. After all, if you have 3 mill, it should be no problem going to some African shithole or similar place:/ Am i wrong in thinking putting coin through multiple tumblers and through multiple accounts would make it very hard to track??

/u/IAmTheSenateDewIt_66 · 1 votes · 2 years ago · Link

One vendor I'm friends with was raided and busted; he got off lets just say... extremely lightly. If you're importing, there's always a chance customs will nab one. After that the cops can rock up with a warrant at any time. Guy got lazy and had shit in his room; funniest part is the cops would never have searched the rest of the house. Knock knock.

His account was still up on Empire before it died; there was no mention of dark net.

/u/intelgenie Contributor OP · 1 votes · 2 years ago · Link

They probably didn't suspect he/she was a vendor. Probably small imports for local game. Lucky break.

/u/letstakeplunge · 1 votes · 2 years ago · Link

Are there any examples of buyers been busted for domestic deliveries withing Australia??? I mean that all these busts in the press are either vendors shipping out or importing, but nothing about buyers getting nabbed.

/u/intelgenie Contributor OP · 1 votes · 2 years ago · Link

Very small slap for personal use amounts even for local deliveries. I believe FE don't bother with the resources because of low reward unless they profiling a vendor. I hear worse case scenario is a scare letter warning, or even more rare, a scare visit. Wouldn't be worth a major breaking headline.

/u/dreamtime_aus · 1 votes · 2 years ago · Link

Thanks for putting this thread and resources together! -- There is clearly a ramp-up of busts during September..... But does anyone know roughly how many active vendors there are working in Australia? Is it 250, 500, 1000+? Because if there are 1000+ active vendors in Australia, then the list of a dozen busts above is not so concerning. Any idea? What's your guess? With a tight OPSEC strategy, how safe is it to sell drugs online in AUz?

/u/intelgenie Contributor OP · 1 votes · 2 years ago · Link

Two residential properties and a sports motorcycle, collectively valued at $1.27 million, were also seized. Police said it was the largest seizure of cryptocurrency by SAPOL.

Australian Vendor “Underlinecost” Made Up to $25K Every Day

~4 mins | Published by Darknetlive on 2 Jan, 2022 in News and tagged Darkweb Vendors and Drug Busts using 830 words. | 12 Comments

Three Australians made as much as $25,000 a day by selling drugs through the vendor account “underlinecost.”

In November 2021, SA Police reported arresting three people for their alleged roles in a prolific darkweb drug trafficking operation:

Two men and a woman have been arrested following an operation by the Financial and Cybercrime Investigation Branch, High Tech Crime Section into their alleged drug trafficking activities on the dark web.

On Monday 22 November, Detectives from SAPOL’s Financial and Cybercrime Investigation Branch and Australian Federal Police searched a home and business address in Adelaide and a property in Kings Park.

One million dollars in cash and $700, 000 of cryptocurrency was seized along with drugs suspected to be cocaine, LSD, cannabis, and steroids with an estimated street value of over $150, 000. In addition; Confiscations Section has seized two residential properties and a sports motorcycle, collectively valued at $1.27 million. This is the largest ever seizure of cryptocurrency by SAPOL.

A 27-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, both from Adelaide, and a 24-year-old man from Kings Park were arrested and charged with multiple counts of commercial drug trafficking, money laundering, and importation of a large commercial quantity of LSD.

All three have appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court and were remanded in custody to next appear in court on 24 May 2022.

After the arrest, it appeared as if some Dread users correctly identified the vendor as underlinecost. Local news outlets have confirmed as much. The underlinecost vendor account on Darkode has also confirmed this; SA police changed the profile picture to an announcement that they had a search warrant for the account.

It does not appear as if law enforcement accessed the account since November 2021 though.

A picture of A listing on the underlinecost profile on Darkode market.

Investigation

Australian law enforcement started investigating the alleged syndicate after intercepting a package from Germany containing 8,000 LSD tabs. A phone number on the package led investigators to a mailbox where they observed former police officer Thomas James Booker, 27, dropping off packages. Erin Gold, 32, who worked as “an accountant and burlesque dancer,” apparently had a relationship with Booker. They lived together and co-owned properties.

Police have not revealed how they made the connection between the identification of Booker and the underlinecost vendor account.

However, undercover law enforcement officers purchased drugs from underlinecost as a part of the investigation. Police identified fingerprints on the packages that belonged to Booker and one of his co-conspirators, Ryan Suri-Tucker, 24.

Arrests

In November 2021, the police raided a Kings Park property and arrested both men. Police reported that both men had drugs piled up around them at a desk. On the desk was a computer that was signed into the underlinecost account on a marketplace, according to the police.

Police later arrested Gold at her workplace.

During a bail hearing, a prosecutor explained the discoveries made by police after searching the property:

“When police attended the address they found the pair sitting at a desk together in front of a computer with an open TOR session, which is access to the dark web, open into the vendor account of Underline Costs with a list of unfilled orders. There were drugs seized at that location, including a commercial quantity of LSD and trafficable quantities of cocaine, cannabis, and MDMA. Those items were on the table in front of them. Some of them had been divided into smaller quantities ready for delivery. Also on the table in front of them packaged ready to be shipped in Australia Post packages. There was also a ledger book, which appeared to be a record of every sale including the amount and tracking number. It appears this was all run as a business. Police estimate they were turning over about $25,000 a day.”

Assets

A raid at the house belonging to Booker and Gold resulted in the seizure of $350,000.

A locked box at the Public Trustee’s office belonging to Booker contained $460,000.

Police froze $900,000 in cryptocurrency. All three suspects had cryptocurrency holdings.

Police have applied to freeze an apartment worth $500,000 owed by Booker and Gold, a property in Athol Park worth $500,000 owned by Gold, and a 2020 Ducati.

Updates

Gold, in her bail applications, is trying to place the blame entirely on Booker.

Gold’s lawyer:

“The involvement of Ms. Gold is in effect because of her association with her partner, one of the co-accused. She was not at that location when the arrest occurred. Ms. Gold was arrested at her workplace where she was undergoing full-time employment. In my submission, her connection to Mr. Booker is the basis for her being charged.”

Her bail application was adjourned until later this month.
