Why don't cops CCTV trawl all crimes?

by /u/johndoe12 · 2 votes · 1 month ago

If someone commits a robbery, or a shooting, or whatever. How comes police don't just CCTV trawl every single crime? As long as a witness or a number plate is caught on camera, then cops should be able to track where that car went through CCTV

You must not watch much television. There are shows entirely devoted to camera footage used to solve crimes but if a homicide occurs within a private residence there might not be a camera nearby, same with a rural area. Sometimes they even use doorbell cameras from neighbors at a crime scene to gather evidence.

Have you seen what they're doing in China?

Walk accross the street without waiting for the light and your citizen score goes down and you may not be able to travel internationally.

Yeah, I'm always wondering why it takes them so long.

There were cases in my country of a lost child. Apparently he went inside the train and disappear. I mean.... There is CCTV in every station! Just check for those?

They were like "We're searching, can't comment on that".

But yes... Blind spots exist. Quality isn't always the best. Maybe also the laws or something cause some hiccups.
