captchas are for ddos/spam protection

/u/Hourglass · 1 votes · 4 months ago · Link

Captchas are just hard for a good DDoS protection.

Websites look like that because they are programmed without using any javascript.

I see you're new into this, check /d/dnmbible for all the info you'll need

Lmaooo so true I had to take a break from dread back then cuz the captchas were so fucked

/u/realcanadianpotstore · 1 votes · 4 months ago · Link

yeah man you had to really be serious about wanting to make a dread post last year

/u/nerosViolin · 1 votes · 4 months ago · Link

these captchas are much easier than they used to be brother, consider yourself lucky.

Came to say the same thing. Just coming back after a few years and happy to see the innovation

/u/BlackXXTide · 1 votes · 4 months ago · Link

God remember the chess pieces one? That one made me quit dread for awhile.

/u/GOUPIL · 1 votes · 4 months ago · Link

he just began hahahaha

/u/codedblinks · 1 votes · 4 months ago · Link

Its for ddos and spam protection. The harder they are, the harder it is for this great site to get ddos'd.

/u/Wolfpack1221 · 1 votes · 4 months ago · Link

usually the ones to get into the website are all good, it's the ones on dread to comment that mess with my head, sometimes they are literally just gray blobs where you just have to guess.

Using i2p instead of Tor allows you to skip most of the shitty captchas (not all though).

Pretty sure we are bots mate, we just dont know it as we are self aware. I struggle with them sometimes too!

/u/PelicanVendor · 1 votes · 3 months ago · Link

Bruh same it's why I don't post on forums as much

/u/5CPjcwn3iwKV6S · 1 votes · 3 months ago · Link

It really is ridiculous. A human should _never_ fail a CAPTCHA unless they are intentionally trying to. It should be as painless as possible for humans, and as complicated as possible for robots.

I understand there are limitations due to the absence of javascript but you'd think there would be an alternative by now.

I love captchas here, u know why? Cause i'm not fucking robot.

/u/marlako · 1 votes · 2 months ago · Link

Yes, these on dread are also so shitty. I took 10 minutes to understand these.
